Okkervil River: “Our Life is Not a Movie or Maybe”

The leadoff track from Okkervil River’s The Stage Names is given a fittingly complex and layered treatment by director Margaret Brown. The inherent drama of the track is brought to visual life with a motel room full of booze, pills, porno shoots, and Will Sheff in a suit. The cerebral indie rockers from Austin Texas are getting rave reviews from the most jaded of critics. Ever since their SxSW debut in 2000, Okkervil River can count Lou Reed and legendary Austin musician, and psychedelic pioneer Roky Erickson as big fans.
